Sinelec wins 5T tender for WIM system

Sinelec S.p.A. has been awarded the tender issued by 5T S.r.l., on behalf of Piemonte regional government, for the realization of a weigh-in-motion system, by proposing the Libra/S solution. The contract calls for the design, installation, calibration, commissioning and maintenance of a WIM system to support the monitoring of heavy traffic and dangerous goods’ transport on the network in the Piedmont region, Italy.

The issue of real-time and continuous monitoring of loads in circulation is of paramount importance in managing road infrastructure. In addition to providing necessary information for the statistical analysis of heavy traffic, the WIM stations are offered as suitable tools for developing proactive decision-making support systems, which can be applied to improve the planning of maintenance and repair programs. In addition, by promptly identifying overweight vehicles, they allow for the implementation of control and enforcement policies.

LIBRA/S integrates best-in-class field elements, such as Kistler quartz sensors and data loggers, and a multi-site central control system to remotely monitor the function and diagnostic status of the weighing stations. The centralized console guarantees advanced management of stations and collected data. The information acquired are stored in a database for reporting, analytics and to create data-driven models to increase the availability and security of the assets.

This contract award confirms the ability of Libra/S to respond comprehensively to the requirements of road operators in the WIM context and Sinelec’s proven experience in managing end-to-end projects in extra-urban and urban settings.
